Program structure
Structure of the program
The strong application orientation requires a practical activity for the continuous development and application of the acquired skills. For this reason, the course is offered extra-occupationally.
The standard period of study is 7 semesters. The lectures take place in the form of six-day attendance seminars, which are divided between three attendance weeks per semester.
The course of the degree program can be divided into the following three phases:
- Phase 1: Basics of Musculoskeletal Therapy and basic modules (semesters 1 and 2)
- Phase 2: Basics of Musculoskeletal Therapy and subject-oriented modules (semesters 3 to 6)
- Phase 3: Master's thesis (semester 7)
Modules in semesters 1 and 2
The first two semesters focus on gaining basic knowledge and skills in the areas of musculoskeletal therapy and scientific work.
Modules in semesters 3–6
In semesters 3–6, students acquire specific manual therapy competences as well as treatment and management strategies. A particular focus is on the clinical placements which can also be completed abroad. Another focus is on deepening knowledge in scientific methods and statistics and their application.
Master thesis in semester 7
In the 7th semester, students complete a scientific research project that forms the basis for the Master thesis. The research project may also be undertaken in cooperation with a partner university, such as Curtin University in Perth/Australia, in Madrid or Santiago de Chile.
