Competence Centers, Research Groups, Networks
Sustainable Technologies and Processes
Our researchers in the research field “Sustainable Technologies and Process" collaborate in the university’s competence centers, its research groups and together with external network partners.
Competence centers are teams of at least three professors and their research associates, which are established for a minimum of five years. Collectively or individually, they acquire a considerable amount of competitive third-party funding or contract research, offer qualification opportunities for young scientists, publish research results and engage in transfer in several forms (spin-offs, patents).
4Ios - Competence Centers Industry 4.0
The "I4os - Competence Centre Industry 4.0 Osnabrück" combines the know-how of research with the expertise of partner companies. It offers practical information on all aspects of solutions for Industry 4.0, tailored to the questions and needs of SMEs and the crafts. The conceptualisation and concrete implementation of projects is also supported.
KEA - Competence Center for Electronics and Propulsion Technologies
The "Competence Centre for Electronics and Propulsion Technology" (KEA) performs the tasks of both an engineering office and a research institute. In its aim to develop new technologies and expertise together with companies from the region KEA benefits from its close proximity to the university.
Energy Competence Center
The "Energy Competence Centre" supports research, teaching and practice in the field of energy. The aim is to develop and promote innovative technological solutions and the corresponding infrastructure.
Competence Center for Lightweight Design, Propulsion Technology and Structural Durability
The "Competence Center for Lightweight Design, Propulsion Technology and Structural Durability" was founded to bundle activities, pool expertise and expand strengths at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and combines classic cross-sectional technologies of mechanical engineering
LOGIS.NET - Institute for Production and Logistics
LOGIS.NET is the competence centre for transport and logistics of the Regional Innovation Strategy Weser Ems (RIS) of the Weser-Ems region in association with six other competence centres. LOGIS.NET's task is to support and promote logistics companies, shippers, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises, and municipal organisations in the region in the field of transport and logistics.
Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Lingen.Münster.Osnabrück
The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Lingen.Münster.Osnabrück ("SME-Digitalization Center") raises awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises and agricultural businesses and encourages them to take the step towards digitalisation. As an accompanying and supportive contact point, the centre introduces companies to technologies through information events, workshops, practical demonstrations of technologies as well as use cases and personal discussions.
Use-Institute – Institute for User Systems Engineering
USE is your partner in the field of user-centred system development. We analyse, develop and design human-technology interaction systems. As a university-affiliated research and development organisation, we work according to scientific standards and strong user involvement. The inclusion of new technologies is just as much a part of our way of working as the integration of ergonomic requirements.
Talent Academy Smart Factory & Products
The Talent Academy - Smart Factory & Products is located in Lingen (Ems) and focuses on the MINT subjects (mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, and technology). Accordingly, four key topics have been defined that reflect the areas of expertise of the Faculties of Management, Culture and Technology (MKT) and Engineering and Computer Science (IuI):
- Applied Data Science & Artificial Intelligence
- Digitalised value creation processes
- Mobile Robots - Applied simulation, Artificial Intelligence and autonomy
- Sustainable plastics and plant engineering
Networks can either be set up by academics at the university or have their origins outside the university. There is ususally a connection through a common research topic or field.
The aim of networks is to promote and maintain contacts with external institutions or researchers outside Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.
OLEC – Oldenburg Energy Cluster e.V.
Since 2005, the Oldenburg Energy Cluster OLEC e.V. has been a regional network with an international focus, which now includes 55 companies, scientific institutions, regional authorities and educational establishments in the energy sector. The cluster focuses in particular on the field of renewable energies. The network pools expertise and know-how from all future energies and is unique in Northern Germany with this broad positioning. With its partners from industry and research, some of whom are international leaders, OLEC stands for a more efficient use of energy, the development of sustainable technologies and high-quality education and training in the energy sector.
