Up-to-date research requires state-of-the-art working environments. With its laboratories the university provides modern infrastructure to its 100 lab researchers.
in more than 20
Laboratories
Our laboratories provide our researchers with the space and technology they need to realize their ideas. Some of the larger and highly specialized facilities are listed below, other laboratories can be found here.
Agrarsysteme der Zukunft
The research center Agrarsysteme der Zukunft (“Agricultural Systems of the Future”) serves to improve the regional research infrastructure. Here the university cooperates with important regional and supra-regional agricultural and horticultural companies to develop innovative and resource-efficient cultivation systems and areas and establish a joint research cluster.
Agro-Technicum
The technological research infrastructure of the Agro-Technicum forms the basis for significant research and development projects in the field of digital transformation in agriculture. The combination of a test hall, laboratories and a neighbouring test field facilitates the development of the agricultural systems of tomorrow under real-world conditions. Technological focal points such as sensor technologies, data management and mechatronic systems are developed, tested and applied to system integration.
Food Future Lab
The Food Future Lab brings together people from our university with a shared passion for innovative food and its resource-efficient production and processing. We bring together a variety of expertise, ranging from idea generation to technical implementation and success on the market and in society. Short distances within the university and in Osnabrück, flat hierarchies, creative experimentation and good contacts between experts, students and co-operation partners are our starting points for innovation.
Test Farm Waldhof
The Waldhof test farm consists of a conventional and an organic experimental unit. In these experimental units, we are investigating scientific problems relating to conventional and organic farming, including questions relating to plant cultivation as well as animal production.
WABE-Center
The WABE Center stands for "Waldhof-Aktion-Bildung-Erleben" ("Waldhof-Action-Education-Experience"), symbolizing the honeycomb structure of the building and emphasizing the demand for varied and activating educational opportunities. As an experimental facility of the Department of Ecotrophology at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, the WABE Center offers the opportunity to expand food production to include aspects of sustainable preparation and conscious consumption.
