- Brief description
This module is the deepening of the clinical internship (1) and focuses on the area of collective (=context-related) discussion of key therapeutic points. In addition to the already acquired skills of orienting the examination and treatment in an evidence-based manner, the students learn here, on the basis of real patient treatments and their management, the combination of different therapy methods in an existing practice in which musculoskeletal therapy is mainly used.
- Teaching and learning outcomes
At least 50 hours (60 minutes each) of clinical supervision under a clinical mentor, excluding preparation and follow-up.

- Assessment, management and reflection of patients under the supervision of the mentor
- Retrospective analysis and reflection of patients treated

- Discussion of patient cases regarding assessment and treatment techniques together with the mentor

- Assessment and management of own patients under observation by the mentor

- Practical practice of selected treatment techniques for consolidation and quality assurance together with the mentor

- Further explanations
The students independently or in a group of up to four students choose a certified OMT therapist as a mentor, who practices according to the guidelines of the IFOMPT, and who will supervise them during the internship.

In terms of content, a "real " Patient(in) is examined and treated and then the candidate is asked questions about his/her choices

- Knowledge Broadening
Students will be able to independently conduct patient assessment, treatment and further management with critical consideration of current best evidence based on knowledge of manipulative physiotherapy (OMT) and neuromusculoskeletal research. Clinical, biomedical, social and behavioural sciences are included in this process. Students are expected to be able to independently develop a treatment plan taking into account contextual factors, contributing factors and further management, and to provide a complete overview of the hypothesis categories in order to reflect on them in the formative assessments.
- Knowledge deepening
The students are able to assess the contributing factors and contextual factors of the respective patients well and transfer them into the further assessment and treatment plan consisting of musculoskeletal therapy and the "coaching" of the patient. The decisions made during the therapy process are based on external clinical evidence.
- Knowledge Understanding
The students are able to implement learned skills from the module "Clinical Practicum (1) individual" in case-specific patient management, to integrate them and to verbally make clear which competences from the first Clinical Practicum they apply. They have the necessary skills for complex clinical thought processes in the management of patients with neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions and pain, can reflect on these independently and reproduce them verbally. They use case-related complex clinical reasoning and management strategies, building on their knowledge and experience from the module "Clinical Practicum (1) individual". Based on the collected data and the assessment of the patient's problem, the students can formulate a short- and long-term (pain) education strategy. They reflect on their approach under the supervision of a Clinical Mentor and further develop their therapeutic skills in the sense of Continuing Professional Development.In a clinical situation, the students are able to independently analyse the patients' contextual factors and integrate these into further assessment management. Based on the individual experiences with the patients, you will be able to independently develop research questions.
- Application and Transfer
Students apply on their own initiative the theories and techniques learned at the university learning site and are now applied to patients at the practice learning site. Under the observation of a clinical mentor, they independently apply their knowledge and manual skills in complex, authentic situations and integrate the comprehensive contextual factors of a clinical situation into their clinical reasoning. In doing so, they independently use the best possible external evidence within the individual treatment process of an individual patient. During a formative assessment, students are able to justify their approach and decisions during the therapeutic process well and explain them on the basis of current external evidence.
- Communication and Cooperation
Students demonstrate communication skills in case-related patient management appropriate to their level of performance and are also able to explain and critically reflect on their approach to communication. They can express and communicate their clinical decisions and conclusions to patients, relatives, colleagues and the mentor in an independent, well-founded and reflective manner. In doing so, they take into account the current state of research, personal experiences as well as the patient's ideas. They critically exchange case-related information with their clinical mentor about assessment and treatment strategies and are able to accept and consider alternatives and indications. In doing so, the students engage in processes of self-reflection, can shape these critically and constructively and are able to verbally reproduce changes in the procedure.

Upon completion of the module, the student has achieved the competence and tasks according to the IFOMPT guidelines and is thus at the level of a specialist physiotherapist for musculoskeletal therapy.
